Global Tools
Technology
.Net using ASP.Net & C#, SQL Server used as RDBMS, Browser based.
Solution
KMG used an XML-based data transformation & import utility, built as a windows service. This allowed these global tools to exchange bulk data with the client’s systems. The service comprised of two parts. The first one was a data transformation tool that took the files received from the clients, transformed them into the required format & placed them in the required FTP locations. The second part picked the files placed in a FTP folder, validated the XML schema, validated the data and imported the valid data. A similar process was in place for exporting the required data. The exported XML files were placed in a FTP location at the preset frequency

Project Description
KMG supplied multiple systems to the client under the umbrella Global Tools.

The client provides various services to his clients across the world. These services were normally procured from the various vendors or service providers. The employees of the client used contract & vendor fee management system. This system maintained a database of the vendors and the rates / terms of the services provided by them. These services were then clubbed into saleable services and included in the contracts.

The employees of the client used visa requirements assessment system to enter their trip details. The system tracked their overall travel history and provided the details of the visa required for the particular visit. It checked information from the contract & vendor fee management system with regard to the employees and the fees payable to them. The constant updation of the data in the contract & vendor fee management system was a problem area for the client.

  Major Issues/Challenges
The contact & vendor system was required to raise appropriate alerts for revising the contracts. Any fluctuation could cause the contract to become a losing proposition. The critical element was to monitor the exchange rate fluctuations. The service could have been procured in the local currency and sold to the client at the prevailing exchange rate, thereby causing a discrepancy.
